Renowned artists create masterpieces in the stunning coastal setting of Ajuy, showcasing live art to visitors and locals alike.

The picturesque village of Ajuy in Fuerteventura has become the backdrop for the 11th International Sculpture Symposium of Pájara, an event bringing together five talented sculptors from around the world. Hosted by the Pájara City Council, the symposium runs from 14th October to 2nd November, offering visitors a unique opportunity to witness live artistic creations in one of the island’s most iconic locations.

The official inauguration took place on Thursday, 17th October, at 12:30 PM on Ajuy Beach, where the artists began their work amidst the vibrant activity of tourists visiting the famous Ajuy Caves. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the rugged coastline, these artists are creating sculptures that embody the spirit of Fuerteventura’s southern region, all while residing in the charming fishing village of Ajuy.

This year’s symposium is particularly special as it marks the first time the event has been held in Ajuy, offering a perfect blend of cultural enrichment and the island’s stunning landscapes. Through their work, the sculptors aim to bring art closer to the people, transforming everyday spaces into open-air galleries for all to enjoy.
